1. First you make sure it has gas in it.
2. Then you have to prime it. There should be a button to push near the gas tank - it may have some information near it, like ' 3 X' which means push it three times.
3. There may be a throttle with a fast and slow marking, like maybe even a rabbit and a turtle. Set it for fast.
4. Then you pull the starter rope while holding down the lever on the handle. The lever on the handle is a safety feature that makes the mower stop when you let go of it, so as long as the mower is in use you have to hold onto it or restart it.
5. There may be an additional lever on the handle to hold down if your mower is self-propelled. You get extra rolling power if you hold down that handle. If you are pulling the mower backwards you don't hold that down.

If the mower is stopped but the engine is warm, you shouldn't have to prime it again to restart it. And if you pull the rope too many times you may flood the engine and have to let it sit for awhile before trying again.

Very simple. You need an electric motor of the same wattage as you need to generate. You will need to spin the motor a little faster than the rated RPM of the motor. (pick your pulleys carefully) Hook a small load up to the motor, spin it, hit it with a jolt of voltage. (try your 12 volt battery)It should start to generate and you can hook up a bigger load to it.
