  Macadam or "tar and chip" driveway in Northern (Minnesota) climate?
  

  We are considering installing a tar and chip driveway for a new home. Does anyone have experience in this type of drive in a northern climate? Because you cannot put the plow blade down low, I am wondering if the surface becomes packed with snow and ice and therefore very slippery. Thanks!

  You need to set the plow low enough to scape the surface. Once the sun hits the black tar it warms up to melt the ice even on frigid days here in N Dakota. RScott
